Coaches stumped as kids takeover Scorchers training.

PCHF ambassador kids bowl over coaches as the Foundation launches official partnership with the Scorchers.

The Perth Scorchers coaching team were left stumped as a group of fresh talent took over the WACA Ground to lead their team’s training session. The takeover was led by 9-year-old Toby and four ambassador kids from PCHF, after the Foundation hit a six with the launch of a new partnership with the most successful team in BBL history, the Perth Scorchers.

All four eager kids took to the field to train a team of eight Perth Scorchers players including Jason Behrendorff, Chloe Piparo and Alana King. Thursday’s training session formed part of PCHF’s annual Kid Takeover, which invites kids to ‘run the show’ in a bid to highlight the world from a child’s perspective.

Perth Scorchers General Manager Jess Keily said: “The Perth Scorchers are incredibly proud to team up with the Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation, which has made a remarkable difference to the lives of countless children and their families.

“As a club, we firmly believe the role of cricket extends far beyond wins and losses. It’s about putting smiles on as many faces as possible, while ensuring everybody feels connected and included. We’re excited to work together with PCHF to achieve better outcomes for the State’s most courageous kids.”

Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation CEO, Carrick Robinson said: “We are thrilled to secure the support of Perth’s iconic cricket team, the Scorchers. Working together, we now have an opportunity to help raise awareness of the vital support WA kids need to get well and stay well.

“Our PCHF Kid Takeover is an annual campaign which aims to get everyone to see the world through a child’s eyes, the way that we do.  Being on the frontline of children’s health, we walk the same hallways as kids, families, and clinicians, so we have an in-depth understanding of how to make the greatest impact for WA kids, where it counts the most

“Our partnership with the Scorchers will allow us to reach more of the WA community, while also providing fantastic opportunities to engage our PCHF ambassador kids, who have thoroughly enjoyed being able to run the show down at the WACA Ground today.”
