PCHF gears up for 2025 Cape to Cape.

Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation (PCHF) is proud to be an official partner of the 2025 Cape to Cape Mountain Bike Race, Australia’s largest and most popular mountain bike stage race.

This October, Cape to Cape MTB returns to Margaret River, and for the first time, it will launch with a brand-new family-friendly ride: Cape Kids.

On Wednesday 15 October at Nippers Oval, children of all ages will get the chance to experience the thrill of mountain biking on a safe, closed course in the heart of town. With categories for under 10s, 10–13, and 14+, Cape Kids is designed to be fun, inclusive and inspiring.

Young riders will also get the chance to meet some of the country’s best mountain bikers, including defending champion Cameron Ivory, Oceania Champion Brent Rees, former winner Izzy Flint, and 2025 Australian Champion Sam Fox.

The partnership holds special significance, as the South West is home to a growing number of families who depend on Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) for specialist care. Each year, PCHF helps more than 10,000 children from regional WA access world-class treatment at PCH.

PCHF CEO Carrick Robinson said, “We’re honoured to team up with Cape to Cape MTB, an iconic WA race that shares the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to pushing for the very best for our state and its people.

By riding and raising funds, participants will make a direct impact on the lives of WA’s sickest kids. From Margaret River to Broome, whenever a child needs expert paediatric care, it’s PCH that families turn to – WA’s leading centre for excellence in children’s health.”

Cape to Cape MTB is the ultimate test for riders – a four-day, 200km adventure through Margaret River’s world-class trails and scenery. Whether tackling it solo, in a duo, or opting for the single-day 50km challenge, the event is designed for all levels of riders with a good fitness base and a love of the outdoors.

Cape to Cape MTB Co-owner and Race Director Bill Hayes said, “The South West and Margaret River have been supporters and hosts of Cape to Cape MTB for close to 20 years and the launch of Cape Kids will bring the local community even closer to the event.

“We know there are lots of kids out on the trails and we wanted to provide an opportunity for them to join in with the event. We hope to see many of them go on to ride the event in the coming years.”

Shire of Augusta Margaret River President Julia Jean-Rice said: “Cape Kids will be a fantastic way to kick off the excitement of the Cape to Cape MTB. This new kids-focused event will give children the chance to be part of this iconic event, while also creating a welcoming space for families to connect, participate and celebrate the sport and the outdoor lifestyle we all love.”
