Mum's Sause

How making pizzas can support WA’s sickest kids.

How making pizzas can support WA’s sickest kids.

Did you know every time you buy a Mum’s Sause pasta or pizza sauce from a Coles supermarket in WA, 50 cents from each product sold comes to Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation (PCHF)?

From 15 – 28 March, all funds raised by Coles during its annual fundraising appeal with Curing Homesickness will help PCHF support sick kids in WA. Over the past four years, the appeal has raised a whopping $670,000. All you need to do to show your support is buy a Mum’s Sause product and whip up a delicious pizza or pasta dish.

In addition to getting creative in the kitchen, you can also get involved by purchasing a $2 donation card at the checkout, make a donation to PCHF at a Coles supermarket or via Coles Online

Where does the money go?

Funds raised in WA will help PCHF fund innovative therapy, equipment and technology to support children living with physical disabilities and chronic health conditions like 14-year-old Olivia Riley.

Olivia sustained an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) following the removal of a brain tumour when she was just eight years old.  Prior to her tumour, Olivia was very active, taking part in dance and sports, but her ABI has affected her balance and movement.

In 2021, Olivia was introduced to the sport of FrameRunning, an inclusive recreation and rehabilitation activity for people with conditions affecting mobility or balance.

With the support of PCHF, Olivia now has her own FrameRunner to practice with as she pursues her dream of competing in the Paralympics.

Olivia’s mum, Bianca said the FrameRunner has made a huge difference to the keen athlete.

“It was very difficult for Olivia following the removal of the tumour because she struggled with not being as active as she once was,” Bianca said. “It was amazing watching Olivia in the FrameRunner for the first time.  She has a very competitive streak and it’s difficult to find an all-ability activity like FrameRunning, so it’s been really fantastic.

“Olivia’s goal is to one day take part in the Paralympics – she would absolutely love to race and win a medal.”
