In mid-November, Marketing and Public Relations student and all-round good guy James Day joined the Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation as…
The Stitches’ Megazone team are big kids at heart. They love organising fun activities for kids and families at PMH to help make their stay in hospital a little less daunting and help them to pass the time, particularly when they have a long hospital admission.
Led by Emma Bloxsidge, who spent 13 years managing and working within a childcare centre before joining the Foundation earlier this year, the team are supported by an eager group of Mega-Fun volunteers.
Volunteers help Foundation staff to run lots of activities including art and craft workshops, endless games of air hockey and host special events and guest visitors. This week is National Student Volunteer Week (14th – 18th August, 2017) and we’re celebrating all the amazing student volunteers like Emily Unwin (pictured above) who give up their time to help brighten the day of sick kids at PMH and give them a chance to live their happiest and healthiest lives. Don’t forget, if you’re a student, your volunteer hours can also count towards any required community service, plus it looks GREAT on your resume!
Stitches’ Megazone is on level 7 of PMH and open 10am – 5pm every weekday and 10am – 2pm on weekends. You can also get involved by helping out at events, shaking tins and getting involved in loads of other fun activities – there’s something for everyone!
